Dubai Walls Are Not All the Same — and That Is Where DIY Goes Wrong
Nearly every failed picture hanging job we get called out to fix comes down to one thing: the right fixing in the wrong wall. Here is what is actually behind your paint, and what each one needs.
Gypsum and Drywall Partitions
Standard in newer apartments and fitted-out offices. A plain screw in gypsum will hold a light frame for a while, then quietly pull out one afternoon and take a chunk of board with it. Anything past a couple of kilos needs a toggle or butterfly anchor — or better, a screw driven into the metal stud behind the board. We find the stud rather than hope for one.
Solid Concrete and Hollow Block
Common in older buildings and villa cores. This wants a hammer drill and a proper sleeve or wedge anchor. It also wants a scan first, because concrete hides electrical conduit, and you only ever find it the hard way. This is where wall mounting services earn their fee.
Marble, Porcelain and Tile
Bathrooms, lobbies and feature walls. Tile cracks the moment you rush it. We start with a diamond bit at low speed with the hammer action off, and for many bathroom mirrors we skip drilling altogether and use a rated adhesive or cleat system instead.
Renting? Ask About Deposit-Safe Options
If you rent and you would like your deposit back, say so when you message. Where the weight allows, we can use low-damage hanging systems and picture rails instead of anchors, and we can patch and touch up old holes when you leave — often on the same day our movers in Dubai team is already there loading the van.

Hanging a single picture, frame or mirror starts at AED 200, which is our minimum call-out. Two pieces are AED 300, three are AED 400 and four are AED 500. From five pieces upward — and for heavy mirrors or marble walls — we quote on WhatsApp once we have seen a photo, so the price is fixed before we arrive.
Can you hang a heavy mirror on a gypsum wall?
Yes, but never with a screw and a plastic plug. A heavy mirror on gypsum goes either into the metal stud behind the board or onto a French cleat spread across several anchors, so the load is shared rather than hanging off one point. We weigh the mirror and pick the fixing to match. If we would not trust it in our own home, we will say so instead of hanging it.
Do you bring the hooks, anchors and fixings?
Yes. Hooks, D-rings, wire, wall plugs, toggles, cleats and anchors are all included in the price. If a piece needs something specialist, such as a security fitting or a full rail system, we tell you the cost before you book, not after the job.
Will you drill into a water pipe or an electrical cable?
We scan every drilling point with a cable and pipe detector before the drill touches the wall. If it flags something, we move the fixing or adjust the layout rather than gamble. This is the single biggest reason people stop doing it themselves and call a professional.
Do you also do TV wall mounting?
We do. TV wall mounting is one of our most common add-ons — we fix the bracket into something that can genuinely carry the screen, level it, and tidy the cables away. Mention the screen size when you message and it goes into the same quote as your picture hanging.
Can you hang pictures on a staircase or a double-height wall?
Yes. Stairwells and high living-room walls are routine work for us. We use height-adjustable stair ladders and, where the wall genuinely demands it, a proper access tower — not a chair balanced on a landing.
How long does picture hanging take?
A single small frame takes about ten minutes once we are set up. A large mirror is closer to thirty. A full gallery wall of a dozen frames usually runs two to three hours, because planning and marking out always take longer than the drilling.
Do you offer office picture hanging and same-day service?
Both. Office picture hanging — certificates, trade licences, signage and artwork — is a large part of what we do, and we can work outside business hours so we are not drilling through your meetings. Same-day slots are usually available across Dubai if you message us early.
